Department Overview

The Division of Information Technology serves as the backbone of our institution, managing critical systems, networks, and data while ensuring the security of our digital landscape. Our mission is to provide reliable and secure IT access for all stakeholders.


Position Summary

The Information Security Specialist will play a crucial role in safeguarding our institution's networks, systems, and sensitive information. This position involves designing, implementing, and supporting security tools and programs, with a strong emphasis on network infrastructure.

The specialist will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in network security, contributing to IT projects and guiding configurations and services such as Network Access Control, firewalls, and overall network architecture.

Daily responsibilities include overseeing network security tools, assessing the security implications of changes, and conducting investigative research to resolve complex security challenges.


Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaboration with Networking Engineers: Assist in the design and implementation of network infrastructure, ensuring reliability and security.
  • Engineering and Maintenance: Provide comprehensive engineering, installation, and maintenance of security applications and solutions.
  • Network Standards Development: Develop and enforce networking standards to enhance security measures.
  • Security Monitoring: Conduct network security monitoring and incident response, collaborating with team members to document and address incidents.
  • Troubleshooting Support: Assist in diagnosing and resolving issues related to security systems.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred: Advanced degree and direct experience with cloud service platforms. Familiarity with regulatory standards in healthcare and education is a plus.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software. Understanding of network security principles, risk management frameworks, and cybersecurity tactics.

Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality and develop effective working relationships across diverse groups.


Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday-Friday (may require work outside normal hours).

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with qualifications.
