Information Security Specialist

Job Summary:

The Information Security Specialist role is crucial for supporting the organization in the realm of cybersecurity, focusing on the protection of networks, systems, and sensitive information.

This position involves the design, implementation, and management of Enterprise Security tools and initiatives, particularly emphasizing network infrastructure.

The specialist will provide technical expertise and hands-on engineering to ensure that security tools align with security objectives, acting as a Network Security Subject Matter Expert (SME).

As a key participant in IT project design and execution, the specialist will guide network configurations and services, including Network Access Control, Authentication, routing, switching, firewalls, segmentation, and overall network architecture, striving for industry-leading security standards.

Additionally, the role includes ongoing oversight of network security tools, assessing the security implications of proposed changes, and managing technology implementation and refresh operations.

The Information Security Specialist will also conduct investigative research and analysis to troubleshoot, identify, resolve, and report complex security challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties encompass but are not limited to:

  • Collaborative Design: Work alongside networking engineers to design and implement network equipment, protocols, routes, and firewall configurations, ensuring a reliable environment without compromising security.
  • Comprehensive Engineering: Deliver complete engineering, installation, and maintenance of security applications and solutions related to network security and monitoring.
  • Network Standards Development: Create, review, monitor, and assist in enforcing networking standards.
  • Security Monitoring: Conduct network security monitoring, security event triage, and incident response, collaborating with team members and management to document and report incidents.
  • Troubleshooting Support: Assist in resolving issues related to security systems and support other teams in troubleshooting efforts.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field, along with a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Higher education credentials and direct experience with cloud service platforms are advantageous. Familiarity with regulatory standards concerning the protection of sensitive information is also preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge: Proficiency in computer software and databases, understanding of network attack and defense strategies, and familiarity with cybersecurity principles.

Skills: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities, along with detail-oriented organizational skills.

Abilities: Capacity to maintain confidentiality and effectively communicate at both technical and non-technical levels.

Work Environment:

This position typically operates during standard business hours, with potential requirements for work outside of these hours.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the established range.
