Job Overview

The Safety Compliance Coordinator plays a crucial role in upholding adherence to all applicable safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels within designated areas. This position supports the operational site and collaborates with the Regional Safety Manager to foster a culture focused on safety, thereby ensuring a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular health and safety evaluations of facilities, operations, equipment, and processes to guarantee compliance with corporate safety standards and governmental regulations.
  • Organize and execute inspections and assessments to gauge knowledge, practices, and adherence to safety protocols, providing follow-up coaching and retraining as necessary.
  • Engage with various insurance providers and regulatory bodies, including OSHA and local emergency services.
  • Educate and mentor both new and existing staff on the proper use of tools, equipment, and safety practices to prevent accidents and incidents.
  • Facilitate training sessions on OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings to promote ongoing safety awareness.
  • Collaborate with management to analyze trends and identify areas for improvement in safety practices.
  • Ensure all safety training documentation and records are accurately maintained in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist in the qualification process for new drivers and the ongoing assessment of current drivers.
  • Support the resolution of loss control claims.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide assistance as needed.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities and maintain a positive work environment through effective communication and relationship-building with colleagues and clients.
  • Prepare and deliver reports as required.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with Human Resources and Workers' Compensation Administration.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Frequently engage in walking and other physical activities.
  • Work in various environments, including exposure to dust, odors, and other airborne materials.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Preferred certifications include OSHA 10-hour, OSHA 30-hour, and OSHA Trainer.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in challenging situations, along with experience in customer service or training roles.
  • Proficient in computer applications, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office being advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Results-driven with a focus on achieving organizational goals.

Working Conditions:

  • Potential exposure to high-traffic environments and tight spaces.
  • Possible exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Willingness to travel between locations as required.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Availability for 24-hour emergency response.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment testing is required.
  • Proficiency in reading and speaking English is necessary.
