Job Overview

The Safety Compliance Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring adherence to all relevant safety regulations at the assigned facilities. This position supports the local market and collaborates with the Regional Safety Manager to foster a culture that prioritizes safety and promotes a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular health and safety audits of facilities, operations, and equipment to verify compliance with corporate and governmental regulations.
  • Organize and execute vehicle inspections and observations to assess safety practices and compliance, providing coaching and retraining as necessary.
  • Engage with various insurance providers and regulatory bodies, including OSHA and local agencies.
  • Educate and mentor new and existing staff on safety tools, equipment, and best practices for accident prevention.
  • Deliver training sessions on OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
  • Facilitate monthly safety meetings to discuss safety performance and improvements.
  • Collaborate with management to analyze safety trends and identify areas for preventive measures.
  • Ensure all safety training documentation is accurately maintained in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the driver qualification process and ongoing assessments of driver performance.
  • Support the resolution of loss control claims.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide assistance as needed.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities and maintain a positive work environment through effective communication and relationship-building.
  • Prepare and present necessary reports on safety metrics and initiatives.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to manage safety-related records and compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 35 lbs.
  • Regular walking and standing throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to dust and other airborne materials.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Preferred certifications include OSHA 10-hour, OSHA 30-hour, and OSHA Trainer.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Results-driven with a focus on organizational effectiveness.

Working Conditions:

  • Potential exposure to high-traffic areas and residential/commercial waste.
  • Flexibility to travel between locations as needed.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Availability for emergency response on a 24-hour basis.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment assessments is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
