Position Overview:
Join our dedicated team at The Einstein Group Inc as a Special Education Assessment Specialist. This role is essential in executing the special education evaluation process. You will assess the educational needs, learning preferences, and program requirements of students who are referred for special education services. Your diagnostic insights will be crucial in collaborating with instructional staff to create the most suitable educational programs for students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate and clarify the assessment program to parents, educators, administrators, and relevant personnel.
- Receive and process student referrals, implementing the assessment and evaluation protocols.
- Select and conduct both formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Gather and organize pertinent assessment data from various sources, including student records, classroom teachers, administrative staff, parents, and external resources.
- Conduct classroom observations and personal interviews to gather comprehensive insights.
- Participate in the Student Assistance Team (SAT) to aid in interpreting assessment data, determining appropriate placements, and developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) as per district guidelines.
- Provide professional development training in assigned schools to enhance staff understanding of students with disabilities.
- Support classroom teachers in the effective implementation of IEPs.
- Consult with parents regarding the educational needs of students and the interpretation of evaluation results.
- Collaborate with parents, educators, administrators, and other stakeholders to improve student outcomes.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with students and their families.
- Assist in selecting appropriate assessment materials and tools.
- Develop and oversee a continuous evaluation of the assessment program, making adjustments based on findings.
- Compile, maintain, and file all necessary reports, records, and documentation as required.
- Adhere to policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education regulations, and local board policies regarding assessment, placement, and planning for special education services.
- Follow all district and local campus protocols and regulations.
- Engage in professional development activities to enhance skills relevant to this position.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors and colleagues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Master's degree in special education or a related field.
- Valid certification as an Educational Diagnostician as outlined by the Louisiana Department of Education.
- Comprehensive understanding of federal and state laws and regulations, as well as policies relevant to special education.
- Ability to provide personal transportation for itinerant responsibilities.
Qualifications/Experience:
Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution (required).
Valid Louisiana Certification in Educational Diagnostician
Experience in the field is preferred.
