About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in impacting students' lives by achieving significant improvement in their academic performance, providing instruction in small and large groups, and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to promote students' academic, physical, and social development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Achieve significant improvement in the academic performance of students with exceptionalities
  • Provide instruction in small and large groups
  • Develop IEPs to promote students' academic, physical, and social development
  • Develop Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed to address students' behavioral and social needs
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress
  • Quickly implement feedback and goal-setting into lesson delivery
  • Collaborate with teammates in grade-level and subject-level teams
  • Participate in the life of the school, including student activities and events
  • Use data to track student achievement and to constantly improve practice
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and quarterly meetings about student achievement
  • Embody, advocate, and operationalize the mission, vision, and direction of the school
  • Take on other tasks as needed

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • Louisiana Teacher Certification in Special Education (or equivalent certification in another state)

Physical Requirements

This is an in-person role that requires regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, operating a computer and other office equipment, reaching with hands and arms, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
