Job Title: Special Education Self-Contained Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Self-Contained Teacher to join our team at Community Academies of New Orleans Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a personalized learning environment that fosters academic growth and social development for students with diverse needs.

About the Role

The Special Education Self-Contained Teacher will work collaboratively with the Academic Team, parents, and students to provide a comprehensive and inclusive education. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student
  • Collaborating with colleagues to design and deliver engaging lesson plans that promote academic excellence and social skills
  • Providing regular progress updates to parents and stakeholders, ensuring open communication and transparency
  • Managing classroom behavior and implementing strategies to promote positive relationships and social skills
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in special education
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in special education teaching
  • A valid Louisiana state special education certificate
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for working with students with diverse needs and abilities
