Key Responsibilities

  1. Engage in concrete placement and finishing tasks.
  2. Receive guidance from supervisors (foreman or superintendent).
  3. Acquire skills in placing, consolidating, and finishing concrete.
  4. Understand techniques for screeding concrete to achieve correct elevations.
  5. Learn methods for placing and consolidating concrete to meet specified grades.
  6. Master finishing techniques, including timing for various finish types.
  7. Explore how different mix designs and admixtures influence placement and finishing.
  8. Understand the process for achieving required floor flatness and levelness.
  9. Learn curing techniques for concrete.
  10. Gain knowledge in early entry saw cutting for control joints in concrete.
  11. Familiarize with tools and equipment used in placement and finishing operations.
  12. Learn methods for surface and structural concrete repairs.
  13. Complete ACI certification for concrete placement and finishing.
  14. Begin to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  15. Participate in silica awareness training.
  16. Maintain a clean working environment, utilizing brooms and wheelbarrows as necessary.
  17. Identify and report safety hazards, taking corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  18. Exhibit safe working practices and adhere to all safety protocols.

Work Environment

This role is primarily conducted outdoors at construction sites, often exposed to loud noises from equipment. Protective gear, such as hard hats and safety glasses, is mandatory. Work conditions may vary based on weather and seasonal changes.

Physical Requirements

While performing job duties, employees may need to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly is required. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position, typically exceeding 40 hours per week. Flexibility to work nights and weekends may be necessary to meet project deadlines.

Travel Requirements

Reliable transportation is essential, with a willingness to travel up to 60 miles daily based on project locations.

Education and Experience Requirements

  1. No minimum educational qualifications are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Basic knowledge of concrete and hand tools.
  2. Five years of experience in construction concrete work.

  1. Possession of personal hand tools and proficiency in using various tools.
  2. Understanding of safety regulations and equipment instructions.
  3. Ability to take accurate measurements and perform calculations.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  5. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Successful completion of any required skills assessments.
  7. Problem-solving skills to address errors effectively.
  8. Organizational skills to maintain tools and workspace.
  9. Awareness of time management and deadlines.
  10. Consistent and punctual attendance.
