Position Overview

The role involves delivering a meticulously structured educational program focusing on essential life skills, social-behavioral development, and foundational academic readiness.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes behavior management strategies tailored to address a variety of behavioral challenges.
  • Creates individualized instructional plans aligned with the general and specific objectives outlined in each student’s educational framework.
  • Utilizes precision teaching techniques to break down fundamental skills into manageable, sequential learning steps.
  • Assists students with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, and feeding as necessary.
  • Prepares and submits periodic reports and summaries to parents, the Core Evaluation Team, Program Head, and school administrators.
  • Develops a budget for classroom operations, prioritizes purchasing needs, and conducts annual inventory of educational materials.
  • Regularly collaborates with specialists involved in each child's educational program, such as speech, occupational, and physical therapists.
  • Conducts a minimum of three meetings with parents to discuss each child's progress in relation to established educational goals.
  • Contributes to the development of specific sections of individualized educational plans as directed by the Liaison or Program Head.
  • Engages in all school-related activities as directed by the building principal.
  • Participates in monthly staff meetings led by the Program Head.
  • Educates non-professional staff on the physical needs and safety protocols for students with disabilities.
  • Submits necessary documentation to the Program Head as required, including schedules and logs of time spent in meetings.

Qualifications

  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching Certification.
  • Certification as a Teacher for School Age Children with Severe Special Needs.
  • Preferred experience in instructing students with significant developmental delays.
  • Proven expertise in the design and implementation of behavioral management programs.
