Role Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for interviewing patients and initiating care during their visits to our clinics. This role is crucial in the delivery of care, including tasks such as specimen collection and communicating test results.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct patient interviews to gather and document the history of present illness (HPI), medication reconciliation, and allergy history.
* Measure vital signs and perform standard tests according to clinic protocols.
* Coordinate and execute follow-up procedures as directed by healthcare providers, including onsite testing, specimen collection, and wound care.
* Assist healthcare providers with procedures such as suture application and splinting.
* Communicate effectively and promptly with patients regarding their care, including notifying them of test and lab results. Explain practice policies and procedures clearly, employing cultural competency and active listening skills.
* Document patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
* Collect and prepare specimens for transport to offsite laboratories as required.
* Maintain and monitor medical supplies and medications to ensure efficient clinical operations.
* Foster a safe, clean, and secure clinical environment for all, adhering to standard precautions and infection control principles.
Additional Information:
Qualifications:
Required:
* Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA, or NCCT NCMA).
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
* Ability to lift supplies and equipment regularly and actively navigate the clinical area throughout the workday.
Preferred:
* Previous experience in a clinical environment.
