Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant plays a key role in the care provided at our clinics, interviewing patients, collecting and documenting history, and performing vital sign measurements and standard testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Interview patients to collect and document history of present illness, medication reconciliation, and history of allergies.
  • Perform vital sign measurements and standard testing as per clinic procedures.
  • Coordinate and perform follow-on procedures as directed by a provider, including specimen collection and delivery of test results.
  • Assist with provider-performed procedures such as suture application or splints.
  • Communicate with patients in a timely and effective manner regarding their care, notifying them of test and lab results, and explaining practice policies and procedures using cultural competency and active listening.
  • Document care into the electronic medical recordkeeping system, ensuring completion of necessary documentation and forms.
  • Collect and prepare testing specimens as needed for transport to offsite laboratories.
  • Maintain and monitor consumable supplies and medications for effective ongoing clinical operations.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and secure clinical environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.

Requirements:

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA, or NCCT NCMA).
  • BLS certification.
  • Ability to lift supplies and equipment regularly and navigate the clinical area actively throughout work.

Preferred:

  • Prior work experience in a clinical setting.
