Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

UNC Health Care is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and supporting our clinical staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with patients and clinical staff to coordinate and schedule clinical visits.
  • Review and interpret incoming clinical orders, inputting them into our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Interview patients to collect and document their medical history, medication reconciliation, and allergies.
  • Perform vital sign measurements and standard testing as per clinic procedures.
  • Coordinate and perform follow-on procedures as directed by a provider, including onsite testing, specimen collection, and wound care.
  • Assist with provider-performed procedures, such as suture application or splints.
  • Collect and prepare testing specimens for transport to an offsite laboratory.
  • Document care into our electronic medical recordkeeping system and ensure completion of necessary documentation and forms.
  • Communicate with patients in a timely and effective manner regarding their care, including notifying them of test and lab results.
Requirements:
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA, or NCCT NCMA).
  • Active Driver's License and access to transportation.
  • BLS certification.
  • Ability to lift supplies and equipment regularly and navigate the clinical area actively throughout work.
Preferred:
  • Prior work experience in a clinical setting.
