Position Overview

Avant Garde Academy Foundation, Inc. is in search of a dedicated instructional educator to lead our STEAM program. STEAM education integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics to foster student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster an environment of openness, respect, and support that encourages student inquiry.
  • Engage students in grade-appropriate learning experiences that enhance their performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members, valuing diverse perspectives.
  • Exhibit respect towards students, colleagues, administrators, and parents.
  • Model self-discipline and responsibility.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and the community to enhance student learning and well-being.
  • Provide leadership to cultivate a learning culture that embraces diversity and involves students in setting mission and goals aligned with the school's objectives.
  • Design and implement strategic planning systems, including course, unit, and lesson plans.
  • Offer students opportunities to demonstrate progress towards graduation expectations, such as being knowledgeable, responsible, effective communicators, problem solvers, collaborative team workers, and self-directed learners.
  • Deliver timely feedback to students and parents to aid in improving student achievement.
  • Utilize formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate student achievement and adjust instructional methods accordingly.
  • Understand diverse learning styles and provide opportunities that support the intellectual, social, and personal development of all learners.
  • Maintain a safe and secure classroom environment.
  • Address student misconduct promptly and manage conflicts effectively.
  • Encourage both independent and collaborative work ethics among students.
  • Manage classroom resources and engage in professional development activities, recognizing contributions from students and parents.
  • Implement teaching strategies that reflect the diverse cultures, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic backgrounds of students.
  • Seek necessary resources to meet classroom and school goals, ensuring materials are appropriate for students' reading levels.
  • Employ effective teaching processes that promote high student achievement through active learning and meaningful interactions.
  • Incorporate appropriate technology into teaching and learning practices.
  • Demonstrate positive outcomes and trends in classroom performance.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Florida teaching certificate in Elementary Education.
