Job Summary

The University of Massachusetts is seeking a highly skilled Employment Eligibility Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for ensuring the University's compliance with federal I-9 employment eligibility regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver training to HR professionals across the University on employment eligibility requirements and I-9 procedures.
  • Monitor and reconcile data discrepancies between the University's I-9 system, international tax system, E-verify, and HR Direct systems.
  • Develop and implement employment eligibility verification and hiring/onboarding processes.
  • Provide in-person customer service and support to HR representatives and employees on employment eligibility requirements and I-9 procedures.
  • Collaborate with University HR partners to ensure timely and accurate completion of employment eligibility verifications.
  • Generate reports and provide data on employment eligibility and compliance, making recommendations for process improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or Associate's Degree with at least one year of related experience or a High School Diploma or GED with more than three (3) years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, assess work priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of employment eligibility requirements and prior experience with E-Verify, I-9, and employment Visa processes.
  • Experience with Tracker I-9, e-Verify, Peoplesoft, Sprinttax, or similar software.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and successfully deliver training and design/redesign processes.
