Position: Staff Accountant

Location: Plano, TX

Overview:

Fintech Executive Search Consultants is seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join a dynamic team in Plano, TX. The primary focus of this role will be on the reconciliation and posting processes associated with Payfac and ACH programs. The Staff Accountant will also engage in various accounting activities on a daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and uphold accounting procedures for Payfac and ACH programs.
  • Promptly identify and report any discrepancies in processing or settlements, collaborating with relevant departments to ensure resolution.
  • Coordinate with the Risk department to monitor and record returned items and chargebacks within the system.
  • Execute daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Manage all general ledger entries and bank account reconciliations.
  • Process invoices and ensure timely remittance of Accounts Payable.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for accounts payable and purchasing requests.
  • Generate invoices and oversee the Accounts Receivable process.
  • Review and post daily bank transactions to the accounting system.
  • Handle daily ACH, merchant, and partner entries through the bank portal, posting corresponding general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and process general journal entries as necessary on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Conduct analysis of Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts for multiple entities.
  • Review financial statements to identify variances and discuss findings with the Director of Accounting and Treasury.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP standards.
  • Assist with year-end closing and audit procedures as required.
  • Analyze current accounting procedures and recommend improvements to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Provide insights for cost-saving opportunities based on financial analysis.
  • Support finance management in tracking actual results against budget forecasts.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of accounting experience, preferably in the payments industry.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP; experience with NetSuite is advantageous.
