Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in live event lighting, with a proven track record of overseeing all lighting components for events.
  • Experience in managing on-site crews.
  • Strong self-motivation and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Capacity to juggle multiple tasks and roles.
  • Flexible availability.
  • Ability to remain composed in high-pressure, fast-paced situations.
  • Familiarity with or eagerness to learn Vectorworks, Lightwrite, Grandma 2 consoles, and an understanding of Power and DMX signal flow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Event:
    • Take charge of ensuring the event's success.
    • Collaborate with the Producer and Technical Director to comprehend the project scope during production meetings.
    • Develop innovative designs to enhance the event experience.
    • Verify and manage inventory through our Inventory Management Software (e.g., Lightning) in conjunction with the Department Manager.
    • Alert the manager regarding any discrepancies or needs for cross-rentals.
    • Create comprehensive show documentation, including engineering diagrams and input lists.
    • Distribute show documentation to the on-site crew.
    • Assist the Aisle Lead in ensuring all items are quality checked, retrieved, and loaded.
  • On-Site:
    • Serve as an expert resource for the team.
    • Lead the department crew and supervise the set crew.
    • Conduct a brief overview meeting with your team prior to load-in.
    • Support other teams as necessary.
    • Ensure the successful execution of the event.
    • Oversee the dismantling of your department's equipment.
    • Assist other departments with their dismantling and loading processes.
  • Post-Event:
    • Unload equipment from the event.
    • Assist in quality control to confirm all items have been returned.
    • Conduct a post-event review.
  • Non-Event Duties:
    • Collaborate with the Department Manager to enhance operational processes.
    • Assist with necessary equipment maintenance.
    • Identify training opportunities and work with the Manager to implement them.
    • Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
