Supervisory Duties:
This position includes overseeing work assignments, ensuring adequate coverage, facilitating training sessions, participating in recruitment efforts for new team members, providing performance feedback, and identifying areas for enhancing operational efficiency and customer service. Additionally, the Lead Patient Care Coordinator will assist in developing and executing action plans aimed at continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will have a significant role in surgical scheduling, managing patient appointments, distributing educational materials related to pre- and post-operative care, and collaborating with other staff to secure necessary insurance authorizations.

Patient Advocacy:
Utilizing comprehensive knowledge of the University of California's processes and resources, the Lead Patient Care Coordinator will effectively facilitate patient care and enhance the overall patient experience. This role requires acting as a customer service advocate, ensuring seamless communication among patients, their families, physicians, and clinic staff. The goal is to optimize patient flow, minimize wait times, and maximize satisfaction within the Gyn Oncology clinics.

Compensation:
Salary Range: $43.68 Hourly

Required Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of disease processes and treatment modalities.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and office procedures, including scheduling and appointment management.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in patient care coordination, ideally within the OB/GYN specialty.
- Ability to perform effectively amidst frequent interruptions and distractions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster cooperative relationships with physicians, residents, research associates, fellows, students, and staff, as well as external agencies.
- Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in all interactions.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively based on job responsibilities.
- Experience in supervising staff, including selection, training, performance evaluation, and constructive feedback.
- Capacity to convey patient care information professionally to patients and their families.
- Familiarity with scientific terminology and laboratory practices.
- Proficient in various computer systems and software, including word processing and transcription tools.
- Knowledge of medical center procedures and scheduling systems to manage patient treatment and laboratory information.
- Understanding of insurance admission procedures and policies for pre-authorization requirements.
- Familiarity with coding systems such as ICD-9 and CPT for billing.
- Basic bookkeeping skills for financial transactions.
- Strong writing skills for composing clear and comprehensive correspondence.
