Overview

UIC is seeking a Telecommunications Mechanic to support various communication systems and ensure operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Installation, removal, maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of voice and non-voice communication systems, such as intercoms, public address systems, alarm systems, teletype equipment, and electronic telephone systems.
  • Running cables and wiring for telephone sets and associated equipment, ensuring proper connections for both voice and non-voice circuits.

Required Qualifications

  • Preferred experience with Avaya Aura CM-7, including G-450 servers, as well as analog and digital telephone systems.
  • A minimum of zero to two (0-2) years of experience in the installation and maintenance of PBX/PABX systems, obtained within the last seven years.
  • Certification in Avaya Communication Managers 6.X or higher, or seven years of relevant experience in PBX/PABX systems within the last ten years.
  • Proficiency in installing and maintaining customer premise telephone equipment and ancillary systems in a PBX environment.
  • Experience with structured Category 5 cabling and wiring systems for telecommunications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to twist, bend, and squat as needed.

Security Clearance

Candidates must possess a security clearance at the Confidential level, with US Citizenship being a requirement for this clearance.
