Job Summary

The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of its 19-acre campus. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, including three buildings, a pond with fountain, and a walking path.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of facilities and grounds, including electrical and HVAC systems, plumbing, landscaping, snow removal, fountain operation, parking lot management, and housekeeping services.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and service agreements for facilities and grounds services, equipment, and appliances.
  • Supervise cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of buildings and grounds performed by contract workers and ensure compliance with contracts and service agreements.
  • Initiate and schedule preventative maintenance of company systems, equipment, vehicles, and appliances.
  • Inspect buildings and grounds daily for appearance standards, safety, fire hazards, upkeep, and maintenance needs.
  • Verify proper operation of heating, air conditioning, ventilation units, fire alarms, and security systems.
  • Respond timely and professionally to requests from staff and tenants for upkeep, maintenance, repairs, event assistance, or other requests.
  • Problem solve and troubleshoot facilities, grounds, and maintenance issues.
  • Perform routine ground maintenance and improvements, such as fixing signs and benches, trimming trees, minor landscaping, pond maintenance, and snow removal.
  • Perform general upkeep, such as replacing light bulbs, spot cleaning carpets, painting, and pulling weeds.
  • Make repairs, such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work, whenever possible.
  • Use company vehicles to pick up and deliver items necessary to perform the Facilities Manager position.
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform setup and teardown of tables, chairs, equipment, and seasonal decorations for NBCE and outside functions.
  • Serve as backup for housekeeping in special circumstances.
  • Manage building security, safety, and compliance, including managing staff and tenant access to buildings, programming and deactivating key fobs and alarm codes, and reporting safety and security issues.
  • Work with city, county, and state officials to ensure compliance with building and land use codes.
  • Acquire and maintain MSDS records and information on materials related to equipment and supplies within NBCE facilities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP) or technical training are a plus.
  • Five (5) + years of facilities management experience in progressively responsible related positions and experience in general electrical and plumbing required.
  • HVAC experience highly desired.
  • Experience managing and motivating a diverse team of contractors and vendors.
  • Previous budget management experience.
  • Construction experience and demonstrated experience with new buildings and facility expansions preferred.
