Job Title: Communications and Development Specialist

The Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation are seeking a highly skilled Communications and Development Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic organization that is dedicated to empowering opportunity and justice-involved youth to transform their lives.

Job Summary

The Communications and Development Specialist will play a key role in supporting the Development and Communications Department in achieving our fundraising, marketing, and communications goals. This includes planning and executing events, campaigns, and partnerships, as well as providing support to the Communications Manager and Development Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with SFF and MAS staff to develop and implement internal and external communications strategies and messaging
  • Support the Development Manager in fundraising campaigns, corporate and foundation relations, and other development activities
  • Research, write, and create content for communications and development projects, including social media updates and press releases
  • Work with community partners to carry out partnership agreements and maintain positive relationships with school leadership and staff
  • Monitor local, regional, and national news coverage and maintain press clippings and media library
  • Assist in monitoring development records and updating files for the department
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, marketing, sales, or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in a related field, with graphic design experience a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience using Microsoft Word, Canva, and Google Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations, especially urban youth, and develop and maintain strong working relationships
  • Comfort with working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment
