Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership support and oversight to correctional facilities, offender services, faith and citizens programs, and emergency management to ensure safe, secure, and humane operations.
- Collaborate with other divisions and the Director of Prisons to enhance corrections programs and keep the South Dakota Department of Corrections at the forefront of progress in corrections.
- Supervise Wardens in assisting with achieving their statutory authority in the operations of their facilities.
- Develop and implement correctional policies and procedures across multiple programs within a facility or correctional system.
- Lead and inspire others on behalf of the SDDOC, demonstrating expertise and skills in team building, organizational and institutional management.
- Experience leading a correctional facility or system.
- Experience implementing corrections best practices.
- Experience developing and implementing correctional policies and procedures across multiple programs within a facility or correctional system.
- Knowledge and understanding of public policy and government leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to understand, develop, and implement performance and outcome measures, managing effective operations while ensuring performance measures are met.
