Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemical Dependency Counselor to join our team at the South Dakota Women's Prison in Pierre. As a Chemical Dependency Counselor, you will provide addiction counseling services to adult offenders, including screening and assessment, group counseling, and development of treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide addiction counseling services to adult offenders
  • Screen and assess individuals for behavioral health concerns
  • Develop treatment plans to facilitate effective methods of creating behavior modification and a success plan for recovery
  • Facilitate groups and prepare discharge summaries
  • Work in a correctional facility and adhere to security protocols
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in alcohol and drug abuse studies, counseling, psychology, or related field
  • CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor) or LAC (Licensed Addiction Counselor) credentials from the South Dakota Board of Addiction and Prevention Professionals
  • Experience in the delivery of clinical services
  • Knowledge of social, behavioral, psychological, and physical effects of chemical dependency
  • Ability to effectively communicate and motivate treatment-resistant clients
