Job Title: Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at the South Dakota Women's Prison. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care to our inmates, working collaboratively with our healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing direct patient care, including assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documenting patient interactions, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Current, valid license as a Registered Nurse from the South Dakota Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Correctional nursing experience, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of working in a correctional setting.
  • Acute care or long-term nursing experience, with a strong foundation in patient assessment, care planning, and outcome evaluation.
  • Charge nurse and/or supervisory experience, with a strong ability to lead and manage teams.
