This position involves overseeing the activities of fellow Technologists.

In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of a Senior Technologist, the Team Lead will be tasked with assigning and evaluating work, managing the quality control program, ensuring adherence to timelines, and providing management with insights on any issues that arise. You will also assist in employee-related matters and serve as a liaison with other departments and clients concerning technical questions and test outcomes.

This role is set in a dynamic, customer-oriented, and demanding environment, aligning with our mission at Laboratory Service Inc:

The working hours for this position will be on the 2nd Shift, from Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure accurate and consistent identification of specimens throughout all accessioning and processing stages.
• Provide support and troubleshooting for any specimen-related issues.
• Investigate discrepancies, document actions taken, and inform the Supervisor or Lab Manager as necessary.
• Operate designated instruments to carry out assigned tasks.
• Regularly perform specimen setup and instrument operations.
• Conduct moderate to high complexity analyses and interpretations.
• Utilize test result abbreviations correctly.
• Seek assistance with high complexity analyses when needed.
• Thoroughly test specimens, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established timelines, and notify management of any delays.
• Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are handled in the same manner as patient samples.
• Recommend staffing needs to the supervisor.
• Identify and resolve issues with reagents, equipment, and processes.
• Recognize and address challenging cases that require timely consultation with a director.
• Serve as a competent trainer for personnel.
• Participate in the validation and/or development of test procedures.

• Assess new procedures or methods while maintaining open communication with staff to keep them informed of updates and changes.

• Act as a liaison with other departments and vendors regarding technical inquiries and test results.

Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field such as Biology or Chemistry is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of clinical laboratory testing experience with human specimens is required; 7 years is preferred.
• Experience with Hamilton or Tecan liquid handlers is advantageous.
