Role Summary

The selected candidate will lead innovative research projects focused on the impact of cellular stress pathways on learning, synaptic plasticity, and the pathogenesis of diseases, particularly movement disorders like dystonia and Parkinson's disease. We are looking for an individual with exceptional leadership capabilities, integrity, and strong interpersonal skills, who can effectively manage multiple research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct laboratory efforts to pinpoint molecular targets of small molecules that modulate stress pathways with potential anti-dystonia effects.
  • Contribute to the validation and deployment of novel genetically-encoded biosensors for stress pathways.
  • Review and synthesize information from scientific literature to inform experimental design.
  • Integrate diverse data from biochemical, electrophysiological, and behavioral studies to enhance understanding of neuronal stress signaling in movement disorders.
  • Oversee and mentor junior scientists and students in research methodologies and analytical techniques.
  • Communicate project developments and priorities effectively to the Principal Investigator.
  • Prepare scientific presentations and contribute to the writing of grant applications and manuscripts.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 4 years of research experience and a proven publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Proficiency in key methodologies such as aseptic tissue culture, molecular biology techniques, and small animal handling is essential. Strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team on multiple projects are also required.
