Job Summary
As the EHS Program Manager, you will spearhead a diverse team within an operational framework, championing a culture of safety, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Your role will encompass the development and execution of comprehensive safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and cultivating a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. You will oversee a cross-functional EHS team in a dynamic setting that spans research and development, manufacturing, construction, and operational phases. A successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional collaboration skills, a lean business approach, and the ability to navigate complex challenges in a fast-paced environment while aligning with the company's strategic objectives and risk management protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of EHS professionals, fostering growth and development opportunities.
- Design, implement, and sustain environmental, health, and safety initiatives to guarantee adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Identify potential risks and propose effective mitigation strategies.
- Enhance operational safety through the Job Hazard Analysis process.
- Formulate and execute strategies aimed at reducing incident rates.
- Establish emergency response protocols and ensure comprehensive employee training.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including safety orientations for new hires.
- Promote environmental responsibility and advocate for sustainable practices throughout the organization.
- Stay informed about evolving environmental, health, and safety regulations, ensuring organizational compliance.
- Prepare and submit necessary regulatory documentation and reports.
- Conduct inspections and audits to assess compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Manage hazardous materials programs, including inventory, disposal, and recycling.
- Collaborate with vendors to enhance the facility's environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Engage with cross-functional teams and external agencies to align safety objectives.
- Facilitate open communication regarding EHS matters through safety committee meetings and training sessions.
- Work closely with operational, maintenance, laboratory, and research teams to ensure hazard identification and mitigation.
- Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, determining root causes and implementing preventive measures.
- Maintain incident records and report findings to management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Analyze safety performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Drive results through the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework, leveraging partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Act as a first responder and participate in the Emergency Response Team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of management experience in safety management, regulatory compliance, and program development.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant EH&S regulations.
- Expertise in a specific EHS discipline; certification is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in conducting incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Solid knowledge of EHS regulations, codes, and standards.
- Able to thrive in an agile R&D environment.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven success in fostering a strong safety culture and reducing incident rates.
