Practical Nursing Specialist

Overview:
# The Practical Nursing Specialist is tasked with delivering comprehensive nursing care for a designated group of patients in alignment with the institution's philosophy of patient care and established standards of professional nursing practice.
Reporting through the Charge Nurse and ultimately to the Clinical Nurse Manager, this role is integral to the treatment team.
Collaboration with other unit disciplines is essential.#
Qualifications:
### Candidates must be graduates of an accredited practical nursing program and hold a current Rhode Island license, in addition to the skills typically acquired through a High School education.
Licensure:
# Must possess an active Rhode Island LPN license.
Experience:
Prior experience in behavioral health and/or skilled nursing care is preferred. BLS certification is required.

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptability, and professionalism, fostering a positive image in relation to the supported department. A commitment to customer relations is crucial, requiring prompt and constructive responses to the needs of all stakeholders, including physicians, residents, families, and colleagues.
#Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Candidates must demonstrate sound dexterity and visual acuity. The role requires mental alertness and stamina to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and during emergency situations. Physical capabilities include the ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach without limitations, as well as the capacity to lift between 25 and 50 pounds using proper body mechanics. The position may involve pushing heavy equipment, gurneys, and wheelchairs. Exposure to all elements of patient care within the facility is expected, along with potential risks such as needle punctures. Compliance with annual safety training requirements as per facility policy is mandatory. There may be some exposure to electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards. Flexibility to work the hours assigned, including weekends and holiday shifts, is required.
