Job Summary:

The Clinical Practice Manager/Clinical Nurse Specialist (CPM/CNS) is a key professional in our organization, responsible for demonstrating excellence in clinical nursing and serving as a role model, expert consultant, educator, and resource in managing and developing clinical nursing practice.

In collaboration with the nursing director/manager and nursing staff, the CPM/CNS assesses, plans, designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates the professional development and educational activities to address identified or anticipated needs of learners.

As a leader and collaborator, the CPM/CNS works with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to partner for practice transitions, improve the quality, safety, and outcomes of patient care.

The CPM/CNS analyzes clinical and non-clinical variables to influence, supervise, manage, or oversee patient care needs, and predicts and manages responses and resources.

Additionally, the CPM/CNS actively participates in research, creating a culture of scientific inquiry and evidence-based practice.

The CPM/CNS demonstrates excellence in providing direct and indirect nursing care to patients and their families, as required.

The CPM/CNS aligns with the mission, vision, and values, and strategic goals of the organization.

The CPM/CNS will be required to flex their schedule to meet the orientation and education needs of the nursing staff and orientees.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's Degree in a healthcare field, with a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred. A Bachelor's of Science in Nursing with work-in-progress toward an MSN degree will be considered.

Minimum 5 years related experience is required, with a Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred. The candidate must have and maintain current licensure in the State of Rhode Island.

A minimum of five to seven years of demonstrated progressive nursing leadership or education roles is required.

The candidate must have and maintain credentials required for the clinical area, which may include ACLS, BLS, and NRP. If NRP is required for the clinical area, the candidate must obtain instructor status within the first year of employment.

Certification in the specialty area is required or must be achieved within the first year of employment.

Membership in a professional nursing organization is required or must be achieved within the first year of employment.

Excellent human relations, verbal, and written communication skills are required.

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation computer software is required.

Teaching experience is highly desirable.
