About the Role

EASTCONN is seeking a dedicated Student Support Specialist II to join our team at E.O. Smith High School. As a member of our shared services program, you will work closely with students who require a structured and supportive environment to achieve academic and behavioral success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students and classroom staff in promoting a safe and healthy learning environment
  • Work under the supervision of a Special Education Teacher or certified staff to assign tasks and review work
  • Support students in acquiring academic, social, emotional, and behavioral skills necessary for success in the public high school setting
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Employment experience as a Student Support Specialist I or comparable position
  • Or: Combination of education and experience that is a substantial equivalent to the above education and experience
Special Requirements
  • Obtain and maintain certification in crisis management procedures within six months of appointment
  • Complete and maintain certification for First Aid and CPR, depending on the program
  • Meet satisfactory criteria in 75% or more of assessed categories pertaining to student programming implementation
