This is a full-time, hands-on role focused on delivering consulting services, conducting environmental audits, and performing inspections at various client locations. Key Responsibilities
- Formulate a compliance assessment strategy and execute facility evaluations at client sites to ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Create detailed reports outlining assessment findings along with suggested corrective measures.
- Support clients in achieving and surpassing their environmental and safety compliance goals.
- Establish and nurture relationships with clients and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Record observations and findings in various documentation formats as required.
- Oversee the development of Client EH&S programs and plans.
- Design and deliver training sessions on regulatory environmental and safety requirements for clients and their teams.
- Utilize data management systems to monitor client compliance timelines, significant events, and specific client needs.
- Stay informed about evolving environmental and safety legislation, regulations, and local ordinances, and their potential impact on clients.
- Assist other departments as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong public speaking abilities, capable of engaging with diverse audiences in various work environments.
- Thorough understanding of relevant environmental and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Competence in data analysis, documentation, collection, auditing, and reporting.
- Proficient in computer applications such as Acrobat and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn about various environmental and safety programs, including HMBP, Hazardous Waste Management, and site audits for compliance with regulations.
Educational Background
- A Bachelor's degree in a core science or a closely related field (e.g., chemistry, biology, etc.).
Experience Requirements
- Prior experience in EH&S within a professional setting, ideally in a consulting capacity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance standards.
- Ability to foster trust and build relationships with clients.
- Commitment to regulatory compliance.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Additional qualifications for EH&S Specialist II include:
- Proactive in anticipating client needs.
- Ability to accurately interpret laws and regulations.
- Mentorship and training capabilities for junior EH&S staff.
- Dedication to professional development and certification growth.
Preferred Certifications
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred (with 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher certificates).
- REHS – Registered Environmental Health Specialist is preferred.
- CHMM – Certified Hazardous Material Manager is preferred.
- ICC California UST System Operator certification is preferred or must be obtained shortly after hiring.
- Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioner certification is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe after hiring.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $68,000 to $80,000. Travel is required approximately 50% of the time, primarily for day trips, with expenses covered by the company.
