Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate a compliance assessment strategy and execute facility evaluations at various client locations to meet environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Create detailed reports of assessment findings along with suggested corrective measures.
  • Support clients in achieving and surpassing their environmental and safety compliance goals.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with clients and relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Document observations and findings through forms, field notes, and other necessary documentation.
  • Oversee the development of Client EH&S programs and plans.
  • Design and deliver mandatory environmental and safety training tailored to clients and their teams.
  • Utilize data management systems to monitor client compliance timelines, significant events, and specific client requirements.
  • Stay informed about evolving environmental and safety legislation, regulations, and local ordinances and their implications for clients.
  • Assist other departments as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong public speaking abilities, capable of engaging with diverse audiences in various work environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable environmental and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Competence in analyzing, documenting, collecting data, auditing, and reporting outcomes.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn various environmental and safety programs, including HMBP, Hazardous Waste Management, and site audits for compliance with regulations. Provide training programs related to OSHA, Environmental regulations, and Transportation guidelines.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in a core science discipline or a closely related field (e.g., chemistry, biology).

Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience in EH&S within a professional setting, ideally in a consulting capacity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance regulations.
  • Ability to foster trust and build relationships with clients.
  • Commitment to compliance standards.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • For EH&S Specialist II, additional qualifications include but are not limited to:
    • Proactive in anticipating client needs.
    • Ability to accurately interpret laws and regulations.
    • Mentor and guide EH&S Specialist I.
    • Dedication to advancing professional development certifications.

Preferred Certifications

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred (with 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher certificates).
  • REHS – Registered Environmental Health Specialist is preferred.
  • CHMM – Certified Hazardous Material Manager is preferred.
  • ICC California UST System Operator certification is preferred or must be obtained shortly after hiring.
  • Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioner certification is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe after hiring.

Compensation: The salary range is $68,000 to $80,000 annually. Travel is required approximately 50% of the time, primarily for day trips, with expenses covered by the company.
