As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tests, setting up and monitoring automated test procedures, and performing manual procedures requiring judgment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine laboratory tests under the guidance of Medical Technologists and Laboratory Supervisors.
- Set up and monitor automated test procedures to ensure accurate and efficient results.
- Perform manual procedures requiring judgment, using pre-calibrated and/or automated devices.
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines to ensure compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Adhere to laboratory quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
- Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Report critical results to clients in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor, including training on new procedures and attending departmental meetings.
- Education: BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
- Work Experience: 1-3 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple procedures simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
