About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Specialist to join our team at the University of Georgia. As a Data Specialist, you will play a vital role in maintaining and managing our database systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data entry and processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain data flow routines between systems to ensure accuracy and decrease time allocated toward data entry.
  • Maintain/Recommend methods for integrating different products so they work properly together such as customizing the database to meet specific needs.
  • Maintain database to ensure the appropriate support level is upheld through upgrades or migration.
  • Modify existing database and management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure.
  • Test programs that relay information to and from the database, correct errors, and make necessary modifications.
  • Work as part of a team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Proficiency in Outlook or similar email client.
  • Familiarity with database concepts.
  • Comfortable working with web-based applications.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities, while working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Communicate effectively in person and by telephone with a variety of individuals.
  • Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Work independently and take direction and instruction from several individuals.
  • Organized and self-motivated.
