About the Role: Democracy International (DI) is looking for a Graduate Fellow specializing in Social and Behavioral Research to assist in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) for our international development, democratization, and peacebuilding initiatives. The Fellow will join the Social and Behavioral Science & Learning Team within the Strategy and Technical Leadership Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Skill Development: Gain expertise in MEL processes tailored to international development programs, integrating applied social and behavioral sciences.
  • Project Leadership: Oversee special projects based on your interests and expertise, contributing to the development of guidance, tools, and resources for MEL.
  • MEL Tools and Templates: Collaborate with MEL Specialists to design standardized tools and templates for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Performance Indicators: Work with team members to establish standard indicators for assessing social and behavioral program outcomes.
  • Sampling Guidance: Create recommendations for sampling techniques suitable for survey data collection.
  • Evaluation Support: Advise on methodologies for data collection and analysis to improve evaluation effectiveness.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze archival project data to derive insights and enhance evaluative learning.
  • Proposal Support: Assist in crafting proposals for funding, conducting research, and developing MEL plans.
  • Content Creation: Produce written and visual materials for external communications to highlight the value of DI's practices.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program related to behavioral sciences, international development, or a similar field.
  • Experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning, particularly in the context of international development.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis software.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly.
  • Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Director of Social and Behavioral Science & Learning.
