Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory determinations as requested by physicians. The incumbent will procure specimens, compute test results, and submit completed reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of laboratory duties and responsibilities in an acute care setting.
  • Plan and organize diagnostic testing procedures on patient specimens.
  • Maintain concise and complete records and test reports as required.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, and fellow employees.
  • Handle absentee replacement on short notice.
  • Work occasional irregular hours.
  • Manage emergency or crisis situations.
Requirements
  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree with successful completion of an accredited Clinical Laboratory training program.
  • 1 to 2 Years recent experience in an approved hospital laboratory.
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology certification recommended.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the State of California.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of hospital established policies and procedures for quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory terminology and laboratory routines.
  • Ability to perform the full range of laboratory duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to plan and organize diagnostic testing procedures.
  • Ability to maintain concise and complete records and test reports.
Working Conditions

This position requires occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. The incumbent will be exposed to infections and contagious diseases, as well as the risk of blood-borne diseases.
