Position Summary

Under the guidance of supervising medical staff, the Registered Nurse will deliver professional nursing care to patients and their families in both acute and non-acute healthcare settings. This role involves assisting physicians in executing their directives and performing various nursing duties as required.


Class Characteristics

This position is unique, requiring advanced knowledge and skills to provide care for patients with complex health issues. The nurse may be assigned to various departments based on operational needs.

Responsibilities extend to participating in quality assurance initiatives, reviewing and revising policies and procedures, and contributing to staff education and development.


Qualifications

Education: An Associate Degree in Nursing or completion of an accredited Registered Nurse Program, validated by licensure from a recognized institution.

Experience: No prior experience is necessary; new graduates are encouraged to apply.


Licensure/Certification:

Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in California, along with BLS certification. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, Basic Arrhythmia, and/or Fetal Heart Monitor may be required based on departmental assignments.


Knowledge & Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Hospital policies, quality assurance programs, and safety protocols.
  • Methods and techniques for patient restraint and seclusion.
  • Medical instruments, terminology, and hospital procedures.
  • Proper documentation of medications and narcotics.
  • Community resources for patient care and follow-up.
  • Relevant laws and regulations governing nursing practice.

Ability to:

  • Effectively manage emergency situations, requiring sound judgment to prevent adverse patient outcomes.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing duties in various healthcare environments.
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records.
  • Foster effective working relationships with physicians, patients, and colleagues.
  • Stay informed about advancements in nursing practices.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.

Patient Age Competencies

Demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills to address the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients across different age groups within the assigned unit.
