Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our team at the University of California, Santa Barbara. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across our campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including pumps, air compressors, steam and hot water boilers, and control systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment, including changing oil and filters, cleaning strainers, and cleaning condensers and cooling towers.
  • Design, fabricate, and install plumbing systems, including steel pipe, copper pipe, and tubing.
  • Design, fabricate, and install sheet metal and other types of ductwork for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Assist water treatment engineers in maintaining chemical balance in boiler feed water, chiller water, and equipment cooling loops.
Requirements
  • 4-6 years of journeyman-level experience in the HVAC field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in HVAC diagnostic and trouble-shooting.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working on cooling and heating equipment.
  • Understanding of HVAC methods.
  • Ability to work well on a team with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
