Job Overview

Are you an experienced aircraft maintenance technician with expertise in comprehensive maintenance practices? This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of our aviation fleet. A background in military service is highly preferred.

Position: Aircraft Maintenance Technician II
Employment Type: Full-time; Consultant (9 months)
Location: San Antonio, TX
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; Candidates must be flexible to work various shifts as required by operational needs, including both first and second shifts.
Compensation: $35 per hour without A&P certification, $40 per hour with A&P certification.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute tasks related to sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving aircraft structures and systems following established repair protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting engineering schematics, technical directives, and modification requirements to carry out repairs and upgrades.
  • Utilize specialized tools and fixtures for the modification and repair of structural components at the depot level.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of aircraft-specific tools, including test equipment, torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Carry out installation, removal, and adjustment of flight control systems, landing gear, and other essential aircraft services.
  • Perform critical component replacements, such as servo pumps and filters, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Access and manage aircraft data through computerized systems, initiating parts requests and addressing discrepancies.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet project timelines and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols while operating equipment and performing maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose and rectify malfunctions within assembly processes, utilizing precision measuring tools as necessary.
  • Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and permits relevant to the assigned duties.
  • This position is classified as non-managerial and does not involve leadership responsibilities.


Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Proven experience in general maintenance on aircraft.
  • Experience with various aircraft systems, including hydraulic, flight control, landing gear, fuel systems, and engines.
  • Fixed-wing aircraft experience is essential.
  • Strong understanding of shop mathematics and practices.
  • Familiarity with schematics, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
  • Competence in computer applications related to aircraft systems and general office software.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as mission requirements dictate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of an FAA A&P License or equivalent military technical training.
  • Experience in conducting aircraft engine runs and performing engine inspections.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and other powered elevating equipment as needed.

Compensation Details: $35.00 to $40.00 per hour.
