POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities related to the origination of residential first mortgage loans, primarily focusing on community reinvestment initiatives. The position aims to meet the sales targets and objectives set by management, emphasizing the promotion of CRA products and services to low to moderate-income individuals and organizations. You will take full ownership of the mortgage loan process from application through to closing, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures while fostering a positive customer experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and develop relationships with CRA prospects and referral sources, including real estate professionals and community organizations.
- Stay informed about Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and loan offerings.
- Understand and apply knowledge of loan processing, underwriting, and departmental guidelines.
- Organize and facilitate homebuyer education seminars for potential CRA applicants.
- Manage employee loan initiatives and participate in related promotional activities.
- Adhere to established protocols for addressing exceptions.
- Process loan applications using standardized forms and technology.
- Utilize technology for communication, accessing daily rates, and managing loan submissions.
- Gather necessary documentation from applicants and ensure timely submission of loan packages.
- Oversee the loan pipeline from origination to closing, completing necessary reports.
- Maintain clear communication with applicants and referral sources, providing updates on loan progress.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while managing expectations of applicants and support staff.
- Participate in all required Consumer Lending meetings.
- This position mandates registration under the SAFE Act through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; a four-year degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with conventional and government lending guidelines.
- Understanding of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing practices.
- Knowledge of federal regulations governing real estate lending.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and provide excellent customer service.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Basic sales techniques and a competitive drive are essential.
- Registration under the S.A.F.E. Act is required at the time of employment through the NMLS.
