Position Summary:

Café Stella, a cherished French bistro located in the lively Silver Lake area, is in search of a meticulous and dedicated Culinary Preparation Specialist to enhance our kitchen operations. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently by preparing ingredients, keeping the workspace organized, and assisting the culinary staff with various tasks. This position offers a wonderful opportunity for individuals eager to hone their skills in a dynamic, upscale restaurant setting.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Experience in French dining establishments or familiarity with French culinary techniques is highly desirable and will be regarded as a significant advantage.
  • Prepare and portion ingredients in accordance with the restaurant's established recipes and guidelines.
  • Wash, peel, chop, and slice various vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as required.
  • Accurately measure and mix ingredients for recipes, ensuring consistency and precision.
  • Organize and stock workstations with all essential supplies for the kitchen line.
  • Assist in the preparation of sauces, stocks, and other foundational kitchen tasks.
  • Uphold cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation protocols, ensuring proper storage of all ingredients.
  • Help with the receipt and storage of deliveries, verifying quality and accuracy.
  • Support line cooks and chefs during service by preparing and providing ingredients promptly.
  • Engage in daily prep lists and tasks as assigned by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Culinary Preparation Specialist or in a comparable role within a restaurant kitchen.
  • Fundamental knowledge of kitchen equipment, food safety, and sanitation practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow recipes with precision.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Willingness to learn and accept guidance from the culinary team.
  • Positive demeanor, strong work ethic, and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Culinary education is advantageous but not mandatory.
