In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently by preparing ingredients, maintaining a tidy workspace, and supporting the culinary team with various tasks. This position offers a wonderful opportunity for individuals aiming to hone their skills in a dynamic, upscale restaurant setting.
Core Responsibilities:
- Prior experience in French dining establishments or with French culinary techniques is highly valued and considered a significant advantage.
- Prepare and portion ingredients in accordance with the restaurant's recipes and guidelines.
- Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and other components as required.
- Accurately measure and mix ingredients for recipes, ensuring precision and uniformity.
- Organize and stock workstations with all essential supplies for the kitchen line.
- Assist in the preparation of sauces, stocks, and other foundational kitchen tasks.
- Uphold cleanliness and orderliness within the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation protocols, ensuring all ingredients are stored appropriately.
- Assist with the receipt and storage of deliveries, verifying quality and accuracy.
- Support line cooks and chefs during service by preparing and providing ingredients promptly.
- Engage in daily prep lists and tasks as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Culinary Preparation Specialist or in a comparable role within a restaurant kitchen.
- Fundamental knowledge of kitchen equipment, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes with precision.
- Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Willingness to learn and accept guidance from the culinary team.
- Positive demeanor, strong work ethic, and ability to collaborate well with others.
- Culinary school education is advantageous, but not mandatory.
