Additionally, you will be responsible for the daily preparation and packaging of grab-and-go and grocery items.

The Kitchen Team at L.A. Grocery & Cafe is dedicated to crafting our innovative menu items that not only excite the palate but also provide convenience for our customers. Our mission is to operate our kitchen and store with minimal waste, and every team member plays a crucial role in exploring sustainable food systems.
ABOUT YOU:
You have the capability to assist our chefs in a dynamic setting that serves three meals a day while upholding consistent operational standards. You are eager to learn and share knowledge with your peers. You maintain professionalism and punctuality at all times. As an efficiency expert, you excel in teamwork, take your responsibilities seriously, can multitask effectively, and respond quickly to challenges. Your passion for seasonal ingredients drives your enthusiasm for food and our mission.
YOUR DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Executing opening and closing procedures.
- Adhering to daily prep lists provided by kitchen management.
- Organizing and preparing workstations.
- Ensuring all kitchen tools are functional and properly stored post-use.
- Preparing raw ingredients in accordance with established recipes.
- Cooking components or entire dishes collaboratively with the kitchen team.
- Portioning food items according to standard serving sizes and recipes.
- Labeling and storing all prepared ingredients for daily use.
- Organizing and identifying 'use first' food items for easy access.
- Preparing, packaging, and labeling grocery and grab-and-go items with precision.
- Maintaining full displays and rotating products as necessary.
- Proactively assessing team needs and the kitchen environment.
- Complying with health and sanitation regulations.
- Completing the daily production plan.
- Conducting end-of-shift inventory as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1 year of professional kitchen experience.
- Experience in a high-volume kitchen is advantageous.
- Proficient knife skills.
- Understanding of various cooking techniques.
- Ability to consistently produce high-quality food.
- Strong multitasking abilities and a sense of urgency.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Attention to detail regarding product quality, presentation, and food safety.
- Commitment to workplace safety and health standards.
- Positive attitude and adaptability to improvement initiatives.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Full body mobility for various tasks.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE AND COMPENSATION:
- Full-Time: 5 days a week / 8 hours a day
- Compensation: $19 - $22/hr plus tips
