Position Summary:

This role is pivotal in overseeing, developing, and executing safety, health, and environmental management initiatives to ensure adherence to relevant safety and environmental regulations.

The objective is to foster a culture of safety within the organization and minimize the impact of accidental losses on our operational goals.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety, health, and environmental management programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, collaborating with relevant agencies as necessary.
  • Conduct thorough on-site evaluations to verify adherence to established policies and protocols.
  • Report findings and propose actionable solutions to address potential issues, ensuring effective follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Manage relationships with third-party environmental and safety service providers, negotiating contracts and overseeing associated costs.
  • Enhance the company's safety culture and reduce the incidence of accidents through proactive measures.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align safety objectives with business goals.
  • Design and implement training programs to promote safety awareness and compliance across all business practices.
  • Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of safety, health, and environmental initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with operations management and regulatory agencies.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and industry best practices.
  • Communicate new safety and environmental requirements to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Oversee Safety Specialists, guiding them in achieving safety and environmental objectives.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field, or equivalent experience in safety and environmental roles is required.

Candidates should possess:

  • At least eight years of experience in a safety-related position.
  • A minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient management, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Preferred certifications include ASP (Associate Safety Professional) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional).
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • The ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position require the ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The role involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking, primarily in an office environment.

While performing duties, the associate may encounter varying temperatures and noise levels, particularly in distribution settings.
