Overview
Nesco Resource is seeking a Legal Budgeting Specialist to join a prestigious law firm in Manhattan. This role is essential in managing billing processes, matter budgeting, compliance with client guidelines, and overseeing system administration. The specialist will coordinate the setup and maintenance of budget-related data, focusing on client matter guidelines, including rates and reporting structures. This position is pivotal in assisting attorneys to develop pricing proposals that are client-centric while ensuring the financial stability of the firm.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with professionals across Finance, Legal Project Management, and Business Development. The role requires an individual who can manage multiple priorities, is detail-oriented, and is committed to providing exceptional client service. A background in legal pricing, financial dynamics within law firms, and financial modeling is highly desirable. Experience with corporate transactions is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and resolve fee execution issues through comprehensive data analysis and understanding of firm systems.
- Assist in the administration of established reporting and budgeting processes, coordinating necessary inputs from matter teams.
- Interpret client matter guidelines and systems to advise on best practices for executing agreed-upon arrangements.
- Manage matter budgets within the budgeting system to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Monitor and address incoming requests and inquiries from the centralized team mailbox. Develop and implement tools and processes to enhance budget control and client reporting.
- Review new matter openings to ensure the creation of necessary budgets and reports in collaboration with matter teams.
- Evaluate compliance with client guidelines and report instances of non-compliance.
- Identify opportunities to enhance data and processes to minimize configuration time and prevent fee losses.
- Support the annual auditing process for clients.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- A minimum of two years of experience handling sensitive financial data and reporting within a law firm or service industry.
- Proficiency in financial database software, particularly those utilized in the professional services sector. Familiarity with Elite Enterprise or Elite 3E is a plus.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, filtering, graphs, and complex formulas.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
