Overview
A prominent law firm in Manhattan is seeking a Legal Financial Analyst who plays a pivotal role in billing, matter budgeting, compliance with client guidelines, and system management. This position is responsible for organizing and maintaining budget-related information, particularly regarding client matter guidelines, including rates, reporting structures, and other client specifications. The Analyst assists attorneys in developing pricing proposals that are client-centric while safeguarding the firm’s financial stability. The role involves utilizing intricate pricing models to evaluate various fee structures, respond to proposal inquiries, and analyze client and case profitability, alongside participating in team projects and initiatives.
This multifaceted role requires collaboration with professionals across Finance, Legal Project Management, and Business Development. The ideal candidate is skilled at managing multiple tasks, committed to client service, and detail-oriented. A background in legal pricing, financial dynamics within law firms, and financial modeling is highly advantageous. Experience with corporate transactions is also beneficial.

Responsibilities
- Resolve fee execution challenges through insightful data analysis and comprehension of firm systems.
- Support the administration of established reporting and budgeting processes by coordinating necessary inputs from matter teams.
- Comprehend client matter guidelines and systems to advise and uphold best practices in executing agreed-upon arrangements.
- Manage matter budgets within our budgeting system to ensure precise and timely reporting.
- Monitor and prioritize incoming requests and inquiries from a centralized team mailbox. Design, develop, and implement tools and processes to enhance budget control and client reporting maintenance.
- Review new matter openings and ensure the creation of necessary budgets and reports in collaboration with matter teams.
- Analyze adherence to client guidelines and report instances of non-compliance.
- Provide recommendations for improving data and processes to minimize configuration time and prevent fee losses.
- Assist with annual audits for clients.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with sensitive financial data and reporting within a law firm or service industry.
- Experience with financial database software, particularly those utilized in the professional services sector, is required. Familiarity with Elite Enterprise or Elite 3E is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including advanced features such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, filtering, graphs, and complex formulas.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Strong customer service orientation and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to a proactive, collaborative atmosphere.
