As a specialist in infant hearing assessments, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the early detection of hearing impairments, which is essential for preventing future communication challenges.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hearing screenings for all newborns and infants prior to their discharge, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Perform pre-testing procedures, including the safe transport of infants, proper placement of sensors, and ensuring equipment functionality.
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to infants during testing, while managing environmental noise to ensure accurate results.
  • Utilize objective methods such as Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs) and Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR) for screenings.
  • Communicate screening results to families in a confidential and culturally sensitive manner, providing necessary follow-up information.
  • Document results and maintain compliance with legal and facility requirements.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care for newborns and their families.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in an allied health field may substitute for experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting or working with infants.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with staff, patients, and families.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing patient needs.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision within the normal range.
  • Willingness to adhere to infection control protocols and universal precautions.
