About the Role

Cayuga Centers is seeking a highly organized and motivated Developmental Specialist to join our HealthySteps program in Treasure Coast, Florida.

The Developmental Specialist will work under the supervision of the HealthySteps Program Manager and be responsible for facilitating parenting consultations during well-child visits, conducting home visits as needed for at-risk clients, and providing phone consultations to guide and support parents.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in mental health or a related field, experience with child development and early childhood intervention, and knowledge of infant mental health, family functioning, and prevention.

The Developmental Specialist will also be responsible for completing screenings to monitor developmental milestones, social emotional wellbeing, maternal depression, home safety, parent-child relationship, and parental stress, and making appropriate referrals as needed.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently with competent decision making using established criteria and guidelines, and have excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate parenting consultations during well-child visits
  • Conduct home visits as needed for at-risk clients
  • Phone consultations to guide and support parents
  • Complete screenings to monitor developmental milestones, social emotional wellbeing, maternal depression, home safety, parent-child relationship, and parental stress
  • Make appropriate referrals as needed
  • Submit documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and supervision
  • Inform supervisor of any possible signs of child abuse immediately
  • Complete all required trainings
  • Reliable in punctuality and attendance, adhering to attendance and timekeeping policies
  • Adhere to all agency policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in mental health or a related field
  • Experience with child development and early childhood intervention
  • Knowledge of infant mental health, family functioning, and prevention
  • Skilled in collaborating with other disciplines and services
  • Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving
  • Cultural sensitivity skills required
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish; Creole)
  • Ability to work independently with competent decision making using established criteria and guidelines
