Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled professional to provide crisis evaluations for patients in psychiatric crisis on and off site. You will utilize the current DSM V to establish comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and subsequent planning and treatment. Your expertise will be essential in coordinating system treatment meetings, developing comprehensive treatment plans, and working with patients and their families to implement treatment plans.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, where you will participate in orientation and training of new staff, students, and others.
Key Responsibilities- Provides psychosocial history and mental status assessment of patients in psychiatric crisis at the University campus and mobiles to off-site locations.
- Assigns the appropriate clinical level of care to each patient, including inpatient, outpatient, diversion programs, and provides information and referrals to specialized intervention programs.
- Develops and maintains a safe therapeutic environment, actively participating in psychiatric emergencies, including restraint of out-of-control patients.
- Triages calls of patients with psychiatric emergencies, determining which intervention is needed, and identifies clinical resources and makes referrals when necessary.
- Functions in a Case Management role, facilitating and coordinating referral and access to psychiatric treatment, delivery of social services, and medical contracts/collaboration.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's Degree in Human Services or equivalent.
- Must be license eligible upon hire (LICSW, LISW, or LMHC).
- One to three years of experience in Psychiatry/Mental Health.
- Demonstrated ability in psychosocial assessment, knowledge of community resources, crisis intervention skills, discharge planning, and ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent written and communications skills.
- BASIC computer skills.
