At Hospital for Behavioral Medicine, we're seeking a dedicated Therapist to join our team in Worcester, Massachusetts.

About the Job

This is a full-time role with an estimated hourly compensation of $30. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational, Recreation therapy, humanities, social work, or a related therapeutic discipline, and preferably a Master's degree.

  • Duties:
  • Plan and implement activity services for assigned programs, defining and implementing treatment goals as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.
  • Observe and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior, and ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
  • Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge Nurse or Program Director.
  • Assess psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
  • Ensure timely documentation of interventions and ensure interventions are based on the patient's plan of care.
  • Apply crisis intervention techniques, as required.
  • Assist patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for observing and documenting changes in patients' physical and mental conditions, applying sound judgment, and working collaboratively as part of the treatment team. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, along with certification or licensure by a state and/or national governing body.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational, Recreation therapy, humanities, social work, or a related therapeutic discipline.
  • Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in occupational or recreation preferred.
  • One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • Successful completion of CPR Certification and Preventative Management Aggressive Behavior Training prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 30 days of employment.
