Apple TV+ is seeking a seasoned Head of Global Licensing who will lead all aspects of licensing content for Apple TV+, from setting strategic direction to negotiating commercial deals, ensuring successful content launches, and driving growth based on performance insights.

This senior position requires a business leader with high visibility and impact, capable of both shaping vision and navigating a large matrixed organization.

Description

We're looking for a proven expert in content licensing negotiations for a leading subscription streaming service. The ideal candidate will possess detailed knowledge of content valuation and pricing trends, as well as meticulous understanding of commercial negotiating terms underpinning current licensing agreements.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong reputation among peers and established relationships with senior counterparts across the content licensing space, including major Hollywood studios, independent producers, and global content distributors in key international markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a differentiated content licensing strategy for Apple TV+, taking into account the service's unique market positioning, original content strategy, and audience demographics.
  • Lead negotiations for high-value content acquisition deals, including exclusive and non-exclusive licenses, while navigating sophisticated rights agreements and protecting company interests.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams (e.g., Editorial, Legal, Content Ops, Marketing, PR, and International) to ensure content offerings align with customer preferences, platform capabilities, and legal frameworks.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with major studios, production companies, distributors, and other content providers, driving strategic partnerships to improve content offerings and secure unique opportunities that differentiate the platform.
  • Work with Finance to lead all aspects of budgeting and prioritization, providing regular reporting on licensing KPIs, content performance, and value.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in content licensing, acquisitions, or distribution, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, specifically in the SVOD space.
  • Proven record of optimally negotiating high-value, nuanced content agreements with major content owners, studios, and distributors, balancing immediate needs with long-term vision and growth targets.
  • Strong understanding of global licensing models, market dynamics, and regional content preferences, with the ability to think strategically and anticipate market trends.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate sophisticated concepts and strategies to senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.
